Public Lecture

Preaching Lent and Easter

Saturday, February 28, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, Common Room

“So [the woman] went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.” (Mr 16;8)  If resurrection means nothing more than the end of the death and a return to life, what do the women-and we-have to be terrorized and amazed by?  Craig A. Satterlee will explore the appointed gospel readings for the Lent and Easter seasons from the perspective of this question, “What is there to be afraid of?  What is there to be amazed by?”  This reflection will lead us to Jesus, whose gift of new life will not be confined to our understanding or expectations.Lecture outlines are available at http://craigasatterlee.com.  Professor Satterlee will provide the password to those who attend the lectures.
